Onion Paratha, Onion Roti, or Pyaz ka Paratha

Image
Am running this week's blogging marathon with a theme of using one vegetable in different ways. Since I didn't want to fall behind, I made three different dishes with my favorite vegetable, onions. Yes, this week I chose onion as my vegetable. When I cook, onions are a must. If I don't have enough onions at home, I feel like I'm missing something. Yes, I could not live without tomatoes and onions. I can easily make many different dishes with just these two vegetables. So, I couldn't think of a better main vegetable for this week's theme than onions. Onions are very healthy and have a lot of flavors, whether they are raw or cooked. Raw onions have more organic Sulphur compounds, while onions that have been boiled are a good source of fiber and copper. It was found that people who eat the most onions have the lowest rates of cancer. Onions also help lower blood sugar. Onions are good for your health and nutrition in many ways. Coming to my recipe for today, thes...

How to Make Frozen Paratha At Home

Image
This frozen paratha is a lifesaver when you want a good meal but don't have time to cook. Homemade frozen paratha (fried tortilla) is much more nutritious and environmentally friendly than store-bought tortillas. It tastes just like real paratha (too bad about the packaged paratha). You don't have to spend all day in the kitchen rolling and freezing parathas. You can use the leftover roti/chapati dough every night and freeze the paratha. Every time I eat more atta, I roll 1 or 2 parathas and before you know it, in a month you have a stack of 30-40 fresh homemade parathas in front of you! That's a lot, by the way. Also great if you want to cook for Ramzan. FAQ. Can I freeze already-cooked paratha? Ready-made paratha does not usually keep well in the freezer. Unfortunately, I have to say no. Are frozen parathas safe? Commercial parathas are usually made from the same dough as puff pastry. This is because parathas need a lot of fat and oil to be soft on the inside ...

Gluten Free Pie Crusts

Image
What is pie crust? A pie is a pastry that is baked in an oven or pastry shop. They can contain different fillings such as pastry, vegetables, or meat. Pies are differentiated according to the type of crust. Bottom crusts (filling crusts) are made by spreading the dough on the bottom of a pan and placing the filling on top. The top remains open during baking and serves only to cover and hold the top filling. In a top-crust pie, the filling is on the bottom of the pan and the crust covers the filling before baking. In a two-layer pie, the pastry is on the bottom and the top is covered before baking. Puff pastry is often used to make crisp pie crust. The ingredients in puff pastry are breadcrumbs, mashed potatoes, and baking powder. What is gluten? Gluten is derived from grains such as wheat, barley, and rye and, when mixed into the dough, helps make it softer and more elastic. Gluten is a source of protein and is often used as an additive in many baking recipes. Gluten is use...

The History of Paratha Breakfast

Image
It is believed that there is at least one tortilla frequently consumed in every country. Many are very popular around the world, such as the Greek pita, Italian focaccia, and tortillas in many Latin American countries. In India, there are many tortillas with unique textures and flavors. In this article, we look at paratha, its history, preparation, and popularity in the subcontinent and beyond. Paratha is also spelled Parantha, Parontai, and Prontha, with regional differences, but all refer to the same patty. The word paratha is a combination of the Urdu word parat, meaning layer, and the Hindi word atta, meaning flour or dough. Paratha is made from atta flour (wheat flour) and when making paratha without filling, the dough is constantly coated with ghee (clarified butter), similar to the way cream puffs are made. Once the layers are formed, the dough is rolled into a regular circle (other geometric shapes are rare), baked in a disc-shaped pan (tawa), and then fried in oil. Finally...
